includes real estate, personal property and oil & gas.
NOTICE TO ALL WATERCRAFT OWNERS!
New law effective January 1, 2003
* Watercraft purchased from January 1st to September 1st will be
prorated onto the tax roll from the month purchased.
* Watercraft sold throughout the year will be prorated off the tax roll.

This is in addition to current state law that requires owners of watercraft that are taxable on January 1st to list the
watercraft for the full tax year by March 15th, or be subject to penalties. The watercraft is to be listed with the
county appraiser with sufficient information so that an appraisal can be made
Effective January 1st the value of a watercraft is prorated for the partial year based on the date of purchase or sale.
Under the new law, the record owner must report when a boat is acquired or sold within 30 days to the county
appraiser. The county appraiser then prorates the value for the tax year bsed on that date. Purchases after
September 1st are not subject to any taxable value for that year.
